I'm so sorry, things got a little busy recently and I haven't had time to update you. First I had to take time off with the children over Easter holidays, then all my projects started vying for my attention, each as a priority! So I've been breaking tasks down and ticking them off my list one at a time but it's left no time to chat!
As some of you may know, I work freelance in marketing and as a graphic designer for creative people and organisations. One is Canopy who are putting on a June festival called artsFEST Coleford -clickfor more info if you'd like to get involved. Lots of pre event activities and a great day planned.
I also volunteer as Marketing Lead for farOpen Art Trail & Events and that's been super busy with welcoming onboard the new membership, preparing the Route Planners for the Art Trail in July and the marketing for it. Phew! More infohereSo pleased that I'm featured on the cover of the brochure and so looking forward to Open Studios again this year!
Also, farOpen have a fabulous Spring Art Exhibition at Canwood Gallery & Sculpture Garden coming up May 2nd-26th which I'm exhibiting in, marketing forandhanging 46 artists work in the gallery withthe best dream team. It's going to be amazing. See infohereand below
This on top of being super-mum to those crazy puppies and children of mine - one of which has just started her GCSEs and is about to turn 16! It's all happening!
But…. I've also had some solid time in the studio to really develop the new looser style and expressive direction my new work is taking. I'm really liking what I'm painting and most importantly, it feels really great to paint this way. Painting so large involves big movements and a full body workout to keep up the energy and fluidity in creating these big dreamy abstracts. Thick paint, floppy wet brushes, quick oil pastels marks, gentle chalk pastel lines. They're just yum and my biggest challenge is to not overwork them! They've been described as “very healing, like a colour bath”. I like that. Thankyou Grace.
Let me know what you think. Could be a love or hate thing!?!
Some of these biggies are heading to Canwood Gallery next week but as soon as I've got that covered, I'll set about releasing this body of work including all the smaller pieces I've been getting questions about 🥰
