Botanical Spring styling for new mums

Posted on March 02, 2015 by Charlotte Keating

There’s been no shortage of show stopping dresses with February’s fashion packed awards ceremonies, post parties and Autumn/Winter '15 fashion shows. However it’s our favourite celebrity breastfeeding mums we would like to give a little nod of appreciation to. Here’s to those gorgeous ladies who show us that breastfeeding is a perfectly natural, enjoyable part of motherhood which even their high profile jobs don’t prevent them from doing.

Most notably, Scarlett Johansson, mother of 5 month old Rose, reportedly brought her breastpump to the Oscars in order to express before presenting an award to avoid any embarrassing leaks over this super flattering emerald gown

Look 1 - Softly tailored city chic
The chic trim look at the Micheal Kors show looks great and is very easy to create. Choose a printed navy pencil skirt and wear with our navy v neck nursing top or navy lace trim vest. Accentuate your waist with a tan leather belt loosely knotted over at the end. Wear it under a sassy tailored jacket for a polished finish. Style with softly falling wavy locks and a pair of tan courts.

Look 2- Pared down botanical
We love this tropical bird skirt by Marchesa with a vibrant pop of colour, pared down with the simplicity of black and minimal styling. You’ll find varieties of printed tropical skirts all over the high street as the new Spring/Summer stock floods in. For tropical floral skirts, look to Ted Baker, Boden, Oasis, Warehouse and River Island to name a few. Choose a high waisted, full skirt that hits just below the knee for an elongated look - it doesn’t have to include yellow if that’s not your thing. Tuck our black lace trim breastfeeding vest in at the waistband and add warmth for a British springtime with LK Bennett’s Mira leather jacket which just looks so supple and lush. Finish the look by picking out a bold colour from the skirt and use it to inspire your choice in a coloured pair of court shoes from someone like Kurt Geiger or Faith.
