Jane Clowes – Ceramic Artist creates handmade, slab-built ceramics inspired by the Staffordshire slipware tradition and the clean lines of mid-century design. Her work combines the precision of hand-building with the expressive, gestural quality of slip decoration and stencil work. Drawing inspiration from coastal landscapes, Jane often features sea and wading birds, referencing vintage bird books and her own observational drawings. Using tonal mark-making techniques, she captures the character of coastal wildlife and scenery. Each piece is individually made and boldly decorated with blue and white patterns, alongside striking black illustrations of seabirds, lighthouses and coastal houses, giving her work a distinctive and charming seaside feel.
