Art Workshops and Classes for Creatives and Artists
Courses run on demand throughout the year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays with a maximum of 4 students to ensure quality teaching and personalised attention. 1:1 courses available.
Some art supplies will be available for you to try or use however I will send a recommended Materials List out prior to the course commencing. How much you spend on supplies will be entirely up to you and doesn't have to be costly.
Charlotte has practiced and studied art for over 20 years. During this time she has successfully ran a fashion label and now an art practice with many years teaching dinghy sailing as a Racing Coach. Tailoring the course content to individual students and their preferred learning style is her specialty. She has a supportive, nurturing manner with enthusiasm, smile and knowledge to match.

There is no right or wrong and I will be there to teach you various approaches for laying down your thoughts, memories, impressions and emotions with paint and ephemera for a multilayered look. And if that sounds too personal or intrusive, fear not as it's entirely up to you how you interpret the lessons and apply it in your class for self expression or visual experimentation.
No prior art experience or 'artistic talent' necessary.
Painting is a form of escapism and mindfulness
for me which offers precious quiet time to pause and reflect. My approach is slow, immersive and considered, each stroke mindful and intuitive. The paintings dreamy and calming, conveying a deep sense of tranquillity.
I often start with deep fluid pools of colour and written words which I then respond to by adding creamy, soothing layers of paint, softly blended areas, sweeping arches, effervescent drops, etched script and some highlights of glimmering gold leaf or fine glitter. The power of healing is in the process and the resulting paintings express a sense of peace and joy.
My courses are designed to convey some of the ways I approach my painting and give you the tools to develop your own unique techniques & style by tapping into your own intuition. Gentle guidance will be offered along with prompts, exercises and tailored instruction to suit your skill level or style of learning.
Healing through painting & mindfulness
Art is healing because it forces you to forge a connection between your mind and your body. Unlike exercise, which works your body, or meditation, which clears your mind, art-making accesses both mind and body to promote healing.

I personally started painting again after a career in fashion to overcome physical pain from a long standing injury which no other medical or holistic treatment could help me overcome. Painting allows my mind to quieten and wander whilst I immerse myself in the single focus of painting intuitively, from the soul. The whole tactile experience offers my mind escape from the physical pain I suffer by creating a sort of circuit breaker on the pain signals within my body. As a result, I lead a relatively pain free existence which I can more easily manage. If you suffer from physical pain, I encourage you to give painting a try with one of these courses.
Abstract Expression - Dreamy Abstract Painting Class

An immersive course designed to tap into your intuition and explore how to create dreamy soothing art which is uniquely 'you' through the mindful focus on painting and self expression.
Learn how to express your inner voice with colour, marks and textures in an abstract way though colour mixing and a range of specialist acrylic painting techniques which I use in my painting practice to create dreamy abstracts.
Feel empowered to create restful or bold art which expresses emotion, channels inspiration, celebrates the beauty you find in life or by painting away any pain or worries into calming or energising compositions you’ll be proud of.

Dive in to the therapeutic process of abstract expression with this multi layer abstract painting course.
Build your own course, at your own pace, one module, one day at a time.
You may repeat a module if you wish to go deeper or take longer and I will simply tailor the content to suit.
Module 1: Explore colour mixing, colour value, paint swatching, mark making, painting and printing techniques using a variety of methods, brushes, and tools to create a library of effects which you can develop further. 3hrs
Module 2: Develop your own visual language through series of short, intuition led exercises which depict and reflect your feelings or thoughts using colour, mark making and painting techniques. You’ll be guided in creating a series of small compositions which will hone your skills at painting intuitively whilst expressing yourself freely through abstract painting. 3hrs
Module 3 : Create
a series of 6-12 abstracts on watercolour paper using colour, marks, paint techniques, print and drawing using acrylic paint, pencil, markers and pastels. We’ll cover the basics of colour value, mark making diversity, composition and balance with an easy, fail safe approach and develop an understanding of when a painting is ‘finished’. 3hrs
Module 4: Express
your own voice using the tool box of visual language created in the earlier modules to paint a larger, finished painting you’ll be proud to display. I’ll gently guide you on scaling up your ideas into a composition which speaks your truth using concepts of colour value, composition, balance and detail. 3-6hrs
Create an Ephemera Collage Bird
3hrs, from £45 p.p Run on demand T/W/TH/Sat, Lydney Studio,
2 students minimum
Create your own enchanting ephemera bird using vintage books, maps, dress patterns, old letters, handmade paper combined with acrylic paint, gold leaf or glitter on quality paper or raw linen canvas. Add a personal touch by bringing your own sentimental papers and using colours which speak to you.
Art journaling for Relaxation and Mindfulness

Explore the meditative practice of art journaling where you will experiment with paint, drawing, mark making and collage techniques to develop sketchbook pages through intuitive self expression.
Develop your own visual language by experimenting with different tools and approaches for creating marks and textures. Draw on your inner thoughts and indulge in the freedom of expression choosing colours and themes which resonate with you.
Moon Painting Class

Enjoy the therapeutic process of painting moons filled with floods of colour, blended layers or textural areas with script, splatter, drips and puddles to truly personalise it.
A two part course showing you my way of using colour, acrylic paint and compositional design in order for you to create your own Moonscape on 30cm sq canvas to take home.
