Nursing pyjamas and nursing nightdress to help you stay warm breastfeeding during chilly nights plus tips for keeping baby warm and creating a snug nesting spot.
Watching the smoke rising from chimneys on the hillside from the comfort of home reminds me that winter is sneaking in. We’ve switched from the summer duvet to a heavier tog and installed oil radiators into the children’s bedrooms so they don’t wake during the night when the temperature drops in our old draughty house. We’ll soon see delicate creeping frost gracing our early morning windows and the grass will be crunchy underfoot when we head out on the school run. Bracing for the Arctic front that is threatening to hit the UK imminently, we’ve put together some helpful tips for keeping warm during the colder months.
Whether you’re pacing the house from late pregnancy induced insomnia or are up during the wee hours breastfeeding, you’ll want to cosy up this winter. Our super pretty lace trim pj sets are perfect for snuggling up in (see below).
Remember, the insomnia or night wakings won’t last forever, it’s just a passing phase.
5 easy tips for keeping your baby & nursery warm during the cold months
1. Use a room thermometer to regulate the nursery’s temperature between the recommended 16-20 Degrees Celsius and no warmer than 24 Degrees Celsius.
2. Maintain a constant temperature in the nursery with the addition of an oil or electric radiator with a built in thermostat if needed.
3. Overcome draughty windows with blackout or thermal lined curtains or blinds.
4. Place cots or cribs away from draughty doors and windows.
5. Use specially designed baby sleeping bags to avoid the covers becoming tangled or kicked off during the night. Please ensure you follow guidelines on room temperature and what baby should wear with the sleeping bag.
Create an inviting nursing nest to chase away the chill at night
1. Choose a nice comfy chair in a quiet secluded spot away from draughty windows or doors
2. Keep a nursing pillow or extra cushions close by for support whilst breastfeeding
3. Create subdued lighting and a relaxed atmosphere with a night light or low lit lamp
4. Have a handy bag or basket of essentials within easy reach. Include spare baby clothes, nappies, changing mat, wipes, nappy rash cream, muslin cloths, nipple cream & fresh breast pads.
5. Snuggle up with a warm cuddly blanket to ward off draughts
6. Keep your toes toasty with some cosy slippers or knitted bed socks
7. Keep a small bottle of water and some small sealed snacks for nighttime nourishment
8. Choose some form of light entertainment like a book, tablet, mobile phone or tv/music remote control for amusement whilst you feed or while away the insomnia
